In the last couple of blogs, we have been talking about some of the great yoga poses that you can do to help get rid of painful backaches. In this blog, we would like to finish up our three-part series so that you can incorporate all of these poses in your daily routine and join us for some of our yoga classes.

Upward forward bend

This yoga pose will help you stretch out your hamstrings as well as your back so that you can strengthen your whole body. To do this pose, you will want to start by standing up straight and bending over as far as you can. It is important that you do not lock your knees during this stretch. You do not need to press your hands to the floor, just go as far as your hamstrings will let you.

Upward-facing dog

This stretch, also known as “pray to the sun gods” stretch, does wonders to help open you up whether you have back pain or not. Start by laying on flat on your stomach. Place your hands to either side of your rib cage and push up while keeping your hips, legs and feet planted firmly on the floor. Use your arms as more of a support rather than using them to hold your weight. You will want to hold this position for five to 10 seconds.

There you have it, the complete list of yoga poses that you can do to help alleviate back pain and strengthen your back muscles. We would love to see these poses in action at one of our yoga classes. Register today.
