In the past couple of blogs, we have talked about what makes great yoga teachers. At The Yoga Den, we can give you all of the tools you need to teach others how to correctly perform each yoga pose but it is up to you to be the best teacher you can be. What we can do is give you more qualities that make for a great yoga teacher.

Physicality

You want to inspire your students when they come into the yoga studio. The ability to do the movements is an integral part of being a yoga teacher. If you are not able to do the movements, you will at least need to have a good understanding of the movement, alignment and physiology it takes to perform the movements.

Love

If you love what you do, others will start to love it as well. Your students can tell if you are into what you are doing and feed off your energy, but if you are not feeling yoga during your class, you will have a hard time getting your students to come back. They need to see that yoga improves the mind, body and spirit through your energy.

Attention to detail

When you are teaching a yoga class, you need to be hyper-aware of the movements that your students are making. Break them of the bad habits before they form by correcting any movements that you notice are wrong. If you are paying attention to your students, they will notice that and, in turn, will continue to come back for your class.

The most important thing to remember is that your main goal as a yoga teacher is to help your students become inspired and want to continue to live the yogic lifestyle. But to be their inspiration, you will need to join us for one of our teacher training programs. Call us today for more information.
